Honorees

Christine Quinn and Louis A. Bradbury, will be honored with Douglas W. Jones Leadership Awards

As the first openly LGBT Speaker of the New York City Council, Christine Quinn fought tirelessly to improve the lives of LGBT New Yorkers, as she has for her entire professional career. As former Director of the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, she worked to end bias crimes citywide and brought special attention to the problem of anti-LGBT violence. During her years as Chair of the New York City Council Health Committee, she secured vital funding for HIV and AIDS services. More recently, as Council Speaker, she was at the helm of some of our community’s most historic victories, including ensuring dignity and protections against bullying for all students, and New York’s momentous marriage victory in 2011.

Louis A. Bradbury is a pillar of New York's LGBT community. For years he has lent his time, resources and considerable talent to many organizations that provide critical services to our community, including as President of The Calamus Foundation, which under his leadership funds numerous important initiatives by LGBT groups, ranging from SAGE to The LGBT Community Center, to the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund; as President of the Board of GMHC; and as Chair of the Board of the Empire State Pride Agenda, which under his leadership helped to secure passage of the Dignity for All Students Act and Marriage Equality Act, as well as increased funding for our community’s health and human service needs and LGBT homeless and runaway youth.

Table Captain FAQ

What Does A Table Captain Do?

A Table Captain agrees to buy his/her own ticket and tries to sell at least nine additional tickets to his/her friends to fill a table of ten people.  Ambitious Captains try to fill two or more tables.  Many Sponsors are also Table Captains.

How Can I Be a Successful Table Captain?

First, let the Pride Agenda know that you want to serve as a Table Captain.  As soon as possible, begin to informally invite friends to sit with you at the dinner (a “save the date!” email works well).  Try to get a firm commitment and let them know that you will be sending them a formal invitation in early September.  Sponsorships are available now and begin at $1,500. General tickets will go on sale September 16 and the price will be $750.

Throughout the coming months, we will send you updates on the event, and we will help you keep track of your table’s progress by listing your name and your guest names on our website.

When Will I Receive Invitations to Mail Out?

The Pride Agenda will send you the number of invitations you have requested in mid-September.  They will be either mailed or sent via messenger to you, unless you prefer to pick them up in the Pride Agenda office.  Please give us an address where a package can be received because a standard NYC mailbox is usually too small to hold the package of invitations.  Please mail the invitations as soon as you receive them; we recommend including a short a personalized note about why you support the Pride Agenda.  We will also send out the invitation in an email format.

Am I Personally Obligated To Pay for the Entire Table if I Don’t Sell All Ten Seats?

No! While you are agreeing to use your best efforts to fill an entire table, you have no financial obligation for any unsold seats.  If need be, we will fill your table with overflow guests from other tables.  Or, you can combine your table with a friend’s table.  Of course, if you fill more than one table, we will place those tables together!
