The Need for Union Domestic Partnership Benefits in Post-Marriage New York

Unions and employers need to continue providing domestic partner benefits to employees for whom marriage might not be the best option.

Debuting in June 2009, this guide gives union leaders. staff and members the information they need about LGBT workplace and union issues and the law in New York—including sections on non-discrimination clauses, equal benefits, marriage recognition, policies for transgender workers, union committees, LGBT issue advocacy and solidarity with union campaigns. It has contract language, union resolutions, and resources for organizing and bargaining from a variety of unions including 1199SEIU, Bricklayers, OPEIU, RWDSU, UAW, UNITE HERE and the NYS AFL-CIO.
