The Equality@Work Awards honor companies, individuals, and groups or committees that are working to create an inclusive work environment that respects, welcomes and supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) professionals and their families. Past recipients reflect the range of industries from across New York State that are addressing the needs of LGBT employees, creating welcoming and supportive workplaces.
This year's honorees demonstrate exemplary leadership in promoting an inclusive workplace, as well as raising awareness of LGBT issues within their company and across New York State:
- Morgan Stanley is committed to providing an inclusive work environemtn for their LGBT employees. Morgan Stanley provides tax-equalization benefits, transgener health benefits and comprehensive transition guidelines.
- Emerge, the LGBT employee resource group at Viacom, is dedicated to creating a welcoming workplace. They also work closely with Viacom's brands to ensure that programming includes LGBT characters and storylines and that marketing efforts accurately reflect the diversity and richness of the community.
- Kathryn S. Wylde, President and CEO of the Partnership for New York City, brought together an incredible group of business leaders to join the call for marriage equality in New York State last year. Her leadership was critical in showcasing diverse support in the fight for marriage equality.
