Jose Peralta defeats Monserrate!
In the March 16 Special Election in Queens, Jose Peralta has won a huge victory in his race for the New York State Senate. He will replace Hiram Monserrate, who broke his promise to vote for marriage equality when the Senate took up the bill last December. Jose Peralta has a solid voting record in the Assembly on marriage equality, GENDA and the Dignity for All Students Act and will now bring that record with him to the State Senate.
You can take pride in the fact that we have a new State Senator who will support the LGBT community and who shares our vision about all New Yorkers having equality and justice.
In support of Jose’s campaign, the Pride Agenda and our allies in the labor and pro-choice communities dedicated tremendous resources. Due to the support from many of you for our PAC, we were able to make the maximum contribution allowable by law. We sent staffers and volunteers to work on the campaign and organized additional volunteers to phone bank our many supporters living in the 13th Senate District to get them out to the polls. And tonight it was clear that the time spent and the support you provided made a real difference!
Please consider giving a gift now to our PAC so that we can continue to help elect pro-LGBT candidates to the State Senate like Jose Peralta who will proudly vote for marriage equality and our right to live openly in a state that is free from discrimination for our entire community.
This is just the beginning in what will be an important election year in New York for us all. Give now to keep the momentum going!
